Parramatta Eels playmaker Ronald Volkman has all but confirmed he will be leaving the Parramatta Eels at the end of the year, but has been linked with rivals the Cantebury Bulldogs.

Volkman, off-contract at the end of this year with the blue and gold, was expected to only provide support to Mitchell Moses and Jonah Pezet throughout the course of the campaign, but has become a starting half in his own right.

He has managed 16 games, but with Jarome Luai signed on a one-year deal for next year, it now appears likely he will head for the exit at the end of the year.

Fox Sports NRL 360 has reported Volkman has been linked with the Bulldogs.

“A little birdie told me he's been spotted either talking to the Bulldogs or around their facilities a couple of weeks ago,” Player agent and show host Braith Anasta said.

Volkman also told AAP this week that, while he has a "sinking" feeling when Luai was signed, he understands the reality of the situation and will likely be looking for a new club, although wants to remain in the NRL.

"It's natural (to have a sinking) feeling (when Luai was signed). But at the end of the day it happened and I can't control any of that," Volkman told AAP.

"I can only control how I play on the weekend and how I am around my teammates. That doesn't change. Just because of a signing, I don't drop my bottom lip when I come to training.

"It is a business for this club. It's not fair on the boys if I just have a sook. I am pretty easy going, chill guy. I am all good.

"That's a big thing.

"England is probably a bit of a stretch in regards to going away from my family again.

"The NRL is the top competition in terms of playing rugby league and that's where I want to play my footy.

"I would love to stay at (Parramatta), but I think they're heading in a different direction, which I totally understand."
