Out-of-contract Parramatta captain Clint Gutherson has knocked back the latest offer from the club, opening up the opportunity for a move to the Manly Sea Eagles.

NRL reporter Danny Weidler spoke to Nine News and revealed that Gutherson is set to meet with Manly coach Des Hasler within the next 24 to 48 hours, setting Gutherson up with a new deal to return to the club he played with locally at junior level.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Gutherson is seeking a four-year deal worth about $2.8 million. The Eels weren't able to reach his demands after Gutherson requested a reasonable deal with a Round 5 deadline.

His manager Sam Ayoub informed the club of Gutherson's intentions to relocate, with the 24-year-old set to be shopped around - with Manly the likely destination.

Gutherson was initially offered a two-year deal for $450,000 and $500,000 over both years, and then eventually a three-year deal was offered for a total of $1.5 million, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Parramatta Eels captain is one of 14 players on their list who are currently out of contract.

  1. Time to go home.
Why don’t you just go home?
Are you too good for your home?
    Suk my white ass ball.

  2. Not even that good of a player so overrated, but Parramatta have been dumb about this as he’s their best player

  3. He has been offered a fair deal. If he wants to go then so be it. We won’t be bullied by dodgy player managers anymore.
As it stands I would strip him of the captaincy as he is talking to other clubs and that is not a good look.
If he signs somewhere else I would drop him to reserve grade for the rest of the season.

  4. Have a close look at the goat track Gutho!!!! Talk to the curator ( if there is one )
West is best!!!!! Stay the king!!!!

  5. Not our best player Mikey and I don’t see how Parra have been dumb about this.
It’s Guth and his manager and the managers media buddies that have turned this into a shirt fight.

  6. So not that good and overrated, yet Parra have been dumb by not bowing to his managers demands? Makes perfect sense……

  7. I love how Manly moved him on when he had his knee issues ( basically pi$$ed him off ) now a few years later they are trying to “ bring him home “. In my opinion he owes Parra more loyalty than Manly and I think 600 a season is more than fair. Your not playing origin champ so grab it and stay at Parra

  8. I said it previously, but here it is again for you redv-

HI think the conversation went a little bit like this.
We have got Snake, Matai, Lyon, DCE, Foran.
Gutho we’d love to keep you, but, you are too good to be a depth player and encourage you to shop around

  9. You correct and I know for a fact he wasn’t pushed out and the conversation was very similar to what you just wrote it also with the word if we could ever bring you back we would 100%. He was and still is held in very high regard at manly

  10. But all those players you listed were there when he signed his 2 year extension, and he was injured already, yet a few months later the conversation wen’t something like “you are too good to be a depth player”?
I suspect (but obviously don’t know for a fact), the conversation was more like “we need your salary as a deposit on DCE’s”.
