The Penrith Panthers have confirmed their second major re-signing ahead of the November 1 deadline, with Paul Alamoti locking up his future.
The Panthers, who this week lost Brian To'o at the end of 2027 to the PNG Chiefs, have hit back by retaining an outside back who has become part of the furniture at the foot of the mountains.
A Canterbury Bulldogs junior who debuted for that club in 2023, Alamoti has been with the Panthers since the start of 2024, and has added another two years to his time at the foot of the mountains, now contracted through to the end of 2029.
Alamoti has managed 74 NRL games, featuring in the 2024 grand final, and is on track for another one if the Panthers go that far this year.
“Paul has continued to grow as a player since joining the Panthers and has become an important member of our squad,” Penrith general manager of football Shane Elford said of his re-signing.
“He has shown his ability to perform on the biggest stage and, at just 22 years of age, still has plenty of improvement ahead of him.
“We're delighted that Paul has committed his future to the club and look forward to seeing him continue in Panthers colours until at least the end of 2029.”
Alamoti is a former Australian Schoolboy and NSW under-19 State of Origin player, and while he has been used in the centres for most of this year, could be set to shuffle out to the wing once To'o leaves if the Panthers' depth says that's where he fits best into the side.
Alamoti's re-signing follows the recent news that dummy half and likely future club captain Mitch Kenny has locked up his future at the foot of the mountains.
The club still have a host of players off-contract at the end of 2027, although are believed to be closing on the signatures of Casey McLean in the backs, and Isaiah Papali'i in the forwards, while Isaah Yeo is also believed to be in talks.
Nathan Cleary is maybe the biggest priority for the club, but will likely hit November 1 without a deal.
