Newcastle Knights have confirmed they have extended winger Dominic Young on a four-year extension until the end of the 2030 season.
This official announcement comes quickly after reports circulated that he was set to extend earlier in the week.
Young had initially declined the Knights' first offer, feeling low-balled by the club.
Newcastle return to the finals after winning the wooden spoon last season.
Young returned to Newcastle midway through last season after his stint with the Sydney Roosters in 2024, and the first half of the 2025 season, as he didn't meet expectations.
After making his Super League debut at 17 years of age, Young would head to Australia in 2021 joining the Knights, staying until the end of 2023.
Peter O'Sullivan, the Knights Head of Recruitment, now that Young has returned, stated the winger will be part of the club as they build for the future.
“We are delighted Dom has extended for three more years at his home here at the Knights,” O'Sullivan said.
“Dom rejoined us halfway through last year, quickly finding his best footy, creating and scoring tries, along with outstanding yardage carries for his teammates.
“He is an integral part of our DNA, and Dom, alongside a core group of key players, will help guide the Knights into the next five years and beyond.”
Justin Holbrook, who started coaching the club this season, had a lot of praise for Young's work on the field.
“We are excited Dom has chosen to continue his career at the Knights,” Holbrook said.
“I firmly believe not many players in our competition can do what Dom does on the wing. His ability to score tries at one end and make tough yardage carries out of the other makes him invaluable to our team.”
“Dom is in the prime of his career, and we can't wait to be part of his next chapter here at the Newcastle Knights.”
Young joins recently extended stars Dylan Lucas, Jermaine McEwen and rising talent Francis Manuleleua, who have agreed to terms to remain in Newcastle long-term.
The high-flyer will be available for the first round of the finals after being suspended for one match after a hip-drop tackle on Tolutau Koula, which ended the Manly star's season.
In the elimination finals, the side will miss Dylan Brown due to a season-ending knee injury, while Jacob Saifiti will miss the rest of the season and then some games in the 2027 season after being sent off for a shoulder charge that ruled out Luke Laulilii immediately with a concussion.
The Knights are expected to play the Rabbitohs or the Cowboys depending on the results in the final round.
