Star Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster has been cleared of a serious shoulder injury, and is expected to be sidelined for only one game as Melbourne prepares for another finals campaign.

It was initially feared that the Queensland representative, who turns 25 this month, had damaged his shoulder after playing a key role in his side's convincing win over Manly, in which the Storm avenged their heartbreaking extra-time loss to the Sea Eagles five weeks prior.

Melbourne football director Frank Ponissi said Munster is unlikely to appear in this weekend's dead rubber against the Cowboys.

"He has some irritation and swelling there so we just have to monitor it carefully but it's nothing serious," Ponissi told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"It's unlikely we risk him on Friday night, if it was a final we would play him but given now the minor premiership is secure I think Craig will rest him and get him ready for week one of the finals."

With Saturday's win, the Storm locked up their third minor premiership in four years.
