Former Melbourne Storm winger Mahe Fonua has been linked with a return to the NRL, with the Wests Tigers favourite to sign him.

Fonua played 50 games for Melbourne after making his debut in 2012 before signing with Super League side Hull FC at the end of 2015.

Fonua has been in outstanding form for Hull since making the move, being named in the Super League Dream Team in his first season.

Still under contract with Hull for 2018, there are reports he is looking at making a return to the NRL instead.

A later tweet by journalist Brent Read then suggests its more than a rumour, with the deal already done with the Wests Tigers.

Still just 24-years old, Fonua has also played five representative matches for Tonga.
