Towering prop Jack Stockwell will resume training with the Knights on Tuesday morning, but it remains unclear if he will play another game for Newcastle.

Stockwell is contracted for 2017, on a deal worth a reported $350,000, but he has clearly been on the outer since midway through last season, when he was dropped to NSW Cup and Knights officials advised him to start exploring other options. Newcastle coach Nathan Brown was non-committal last week when asked about Stockwell’s future, saying “there’s little bits of interest in Jack” and it was “a possibility’’ he would be on deck when the Knights kicked off their 2017 pre-season preparations.

“There’s nothing really that you can or can’t confirm there,’’ Brown said.

“There’s always probably more rumours that aren’t true than are true … we’ll just wait and see what unfolds over the next week or so.’’
