Since they arrived in the NRL competition in 1998, the Melbourne Storm have developed some of the best centres and wingers in the game, including Greg Inglis, Suliasi Vunivalu, Matt Duffie and Israel Folau.
While the quartet may no longer be playing, the club have continually found success in the outside backs department, most recently with Jack Howarth, Sua Fa'alogo and Will Warbrick.
Now, another outside back is making a name for himself in the junior representative grades and is expected to follow in the footsteps of those before him.
Contracted at the club until the end of 2027, Israel Lotaki enters next season following a stellar campaign in club and school football, which saw him represent Queensland's Under-17s City side and also win the NRL Schoolboy Cup.
Still attending school for another 12 months, Lotaki has been earmarked as a player of the future for the Storm and has surprisingly been playing the sport for just over five years.
"I started playing rugby league when I was 12 years old, so I was pretty late but ever since then I've fallen in love with the sport," he told Zero Tackle.
"Melbourne has a history of developing lots of good players like Greg Inglis, and I want to continue my path down there.
"I went in on a train-and-trial at a camp in Geelong and after that camp they liked me."
Aiming to win the NRL Schoolboy Cup for a second-straight season in 2026 with Keebra Park, the youngster is also keen to work more on his attack over the next few months as he tries to get it to the same standard as his defence.
Thankful for all of his family's support, he hopes to one day play in the NRL and face his idol, Stephen Crichton, on the big stage.
"I'd be so happy (to face him one day)," he said.
