Manly coach Des Hasler has provided an update on injured star Tom Trbojevic.

The Sea Eagles fell to the Wests Tigers 20-6 in their season opener on Saturday at Leichhardt Oval.

Hasler revealed that the club would have to get by without their gun fullback for the first month of the season.

But the Manly mentor had full faith in his team's current lineup as they look ahead to a round two clash with the reigning premiers.

"Realistically, I don't think Tom will be back til round four," Hasler told reporters post-match.

"Even so I thought the people that we had in there tonight were very good.

"It was very good, we had some very good patches from Brendan Elliot, it was very tough for him bringing it out of the corner. Moses Suli was very good for us.

"We'll have to put it behind us and get ready because we're playing a Roosters side at home next week. It's our first game back at Brookvale. I know the players will want to make amends for it.

"We just have to fix a few things and tweak a few things with the attack."

Given the nature of a hamstring injury, Hasler could not confirm a date of when exactly Trbojevic was expected to return.

"Tom's working pretty hard but it's the time of injury you can't afford to rush and damage and re-injure again.

"We certainly won't be doing that at this stage of the season being very early."

Manly host the Roosters next Saturday night at Lottoland.

  1. What a load of Rubbish!!!!! Hasler trying a smoke screen??? The butter fingered fullback has been plastered all over the TV running freely at training and the lisping number 1 will line up against the Sydney Chooks. Let’s hope for a dry field so Sydney can put a demolition score on Haslers deadset fair dinkum red hot spoon contenders. AHAHAHAHAH

  2. But the poor Roosters had to play in the wet….. That is why they lost don’t forget. Not as if any other team had to.

  3. That’s true clown 🙂 the majority of no hopers for 2019 won in the wet. Including a certain team that won a wooden championship title in 2018. Unfortunatley Manly are so hopeless not even the rain could help that useless mob

  4. That is correct ManWar69er but only two players from that Sydney Roosters NRL team played in that game. Crichton and Collins.

I think even if the ground is wet this weekend Manly is far worse than the Chooks in those conditions. If it’s wet and slippery Chooks in a close one, dry then our for and against will look lovely.

  5. Blaming the weather for a loss is a cop out. If the Roosters are as good as you say they are they should have been able to adapt. At the end of the day they were simply outplayed by Souths, not the weather.
