Maurice Trindall, a former Under-18s NSW Blues representative and Penrith Panthers junior, has been jailed for over a year after pleading guilty to multiple charges.

According to news.com.au, Trindall pleaded guilty to reckless grievous bodily harm and reckless wounding and was sentenced at Parramatta District Court to two years and four months with a non-parole period of 14 months.

This comes after an altercation outside the Bidwill Hotel in Sydney's western suburbs in which he and two friends "stomped on" a man, giving him multiple brain injuries, and glassed an innocent woman in the face during a brawl.

However, he is set to be released on December 1 later this year, due to the time he has already spent in custody.

Although he never played a single match in the NRL, Trindall was a rising star dummy-half coming through the Penrith Panthers junior ranks which saw him play alongside the likes of Matt Burton, Stephen Crichton and Shawn Blore.

He was also named hooker for the NSW Blues in the 2018 Under-18s State of Origin match which saw them defeat Queensland in a side that also included Bradman Best, Bronson Xerri, Spencer Leniu and Stefano Utoikamanu, among others.
