Cronulla head coach Shane Flanagan will coach his son in his debut NRL game on Sunday, with 19-year-old Kyle set to take the field for the Sharks in their clash with the Knights.
Flanagan gets his chance after dominating theย Intrust Super Premiership season, and will be the 524th first grade player for Cronulla.
The Flanagan's join a short list of father-son combinations to be at the same club, with Kyle becoming just the ninth player to be coached by his father at the first grade level.
He also becomes the first player in 14 years to have his dad call the shots, with John Lang last coaching his son Martin in 2004 at the Panthers.
"I can't wait for Sunday at 2pm, I can't wait to get out there and get the game underway," the young halfback told Sharks Media.
"I think my role will be pretty simple filling in for [Matt Moylan], but I just want to make sure I do my job for the team and hopefully play well."
Both the Sharks and Knights will name their starting 17s at 1pm.
