The Parramatta Eels have rejected an offer from the Wests Tigers to release Clinton Gutherson as a trade for the immediate release of five-eighth Mitchell Moses.

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Wests Tigers hierarchy had highlighted Gutherson as a potential solution to the protracted standoff between the two clubs over Moses.

Gutherson has been having a breakout season for the Eel, with his utility value really showing. Gutherson started the season at five-eighth but has spent the last few weeks at fullback covering for the injured Bevan French.

Gutherson was recently selected on the wing as part of the final City Origin squad, while he played fullback for the City Origin side last year.

At just 22-years-old, Gutherson is developing into a highly valued member of the Parramatta squad and he continues to develop as a footballer.

Moses requested an immediate release from the Wests Tigers more than a month ago but so far, the club has refused to grant him the release. While never flat out denying Moses the chance of an early release, the Wests Tigers have so far remained steadfast in their decision to hold on to him for now.

With the return of Luke Brooks from injury recently and the Wests Tigers pursuing Warriors utility Tuimoala Lolohea as a mid-season signing, the Eels are still hopeful that Moses will be released before the June 30 deadline.
