Chris McQueen’s season is over in a major blow to the Gold Coast’s finals hopes.

The Courier Mail is reporting that McQueen will undergo surgery on Saturday which will effectively end his Titans' career.

Earlier this year, McQueen announced he will join the Wests Tigers on a three-year deal in 2018.

McQueen has been struggling with the neck injury all season and had hoped to play for England in the World Cup at the end of the year.

Instead, McQueen will have the surgery to repair the neck injury, which is similar to former teammate Kyle Turner, and then face four months recovery.

This should mean he's fit and ready to begin the next step in his career with the Wests Tigers next season.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said that he looked forward to having McQueen join the club.

“I’m really looking forward to having Chris on board for the next three seasons,” he said.

“Not only does he bring plenty of experience with him, he is also an extremely consistent player."
