As the June 30 deadline is now just two days away, clubs are starting to ramp up their movement, as they look to finalise their rosters.

Over the past week, the Knights have added JJ Felise and Edrick Lee to their books, with Lee joining Jesse Ramien and Tim Glasby on contracts for 2019 and beyond.

Despite the movement so far, the Knights still have salary cap room left to make a play at Roosters winger Blake Ferguson.

Knights coach Nathan Brown understands his club's dealings may not be over before the deadline, but has warned Knights fans not every rumour or link is gospel.

"We're obviously in a pretty good salary cap situation at the moment," Brown told newcastleknights.com.au.

"Any time a player comes on the market, we are apparently in for him which is not always the case.

"Everyone knows we're in for a front rower so every time a front rower comes out (on the market), we're generally the front runner (in the media).

"We're always going to be rumoured to be in for players.

"Ferguson, obviously we've made some inquiries about. That's certainly very true and already been written.

"Generally, where there's a bit of smoke, there's fire but not all true."

High profile Parramatta Eel Corey Norman is one player whose future remains up in the air, although Brown doesn't understand where the Norman to Newcastle links have come from.

"He's a very talented player who is on a really big wage," Brown said.

"I'd say at this stage, that's not a true rumour.

"Is he a talented player and would he help any organisation? He's a potential Origin player. I think he'd help any club."

Brown was also quick to shut down a potential move for Martin Taupau, suggesting he was unaware the Sea Eagles were even interested in unloading the front-rower.

"No," Brown said.

"I haven't head Manly are keen to move Marty Taupau.

"He's the prototype forward who seems to be having a lot of success.

"He's the type of player that would help any organisation. I'm not convinced myself personally that Manly would let him go."
