Wests Tigers star Ryan Matterson has been granted leave from the club for the rest of the 2019 season for "personal reasons".

The club revealed via the official website that the forward had requested the leave, while making no further comment on the matter.

It comes following reports that Matterson had failed to turn up to training over the last few days.

He is understood to be on the radar of a number of rival clubs and appears likely to leave the Tigers during the off-season.

When foxsports.com.au asked Matterson’s agent Gavin Orr if he had been skipping training, he responded: “No he’s crook and has doctor’s orders to be off training”.

Following on from their loss to Cronulla, Michael Maguire instructed that his players train all the way up until the grand final.

  1. Matterson won’t go to the roosters. Where would be okay? Radley has lock, Cordner and Crichton are the second rowers. He’s not a long term hooker. He would be a beast for Parra, or otherwise the Bulldogs do have some money to spend and he is born in that area.

  2. Of course he loves the roosters, says the muppet William77 the “Canberra” supporter from Albury!!!! Whatever you say Woody ya 💩💩💩💩

  3. Clearly the Chooks will release Drew Hutchinson from his $30 contract, sign Matterson for $50 and improve their salary cap by 500 thousand

  4. Twentyone even though your a typical Soufths N1TW1T. I do applaud your vivid imagination that brings a smile to my dial. Teddy Mercury, Mr Potato Head and the Garden Gnome.⌛
