Parramatta captain Clint Gutherson has signed a new three-year deal with the Eels, which will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2022 season.

While it hasn't been made official, the Eels are expected to announce the deal on Thursday.

Gutherson's new deal now puts him back in the Origin frame, with Blues coach Brad Fittler suggesting players wouldn't be in his squad if they had contract negotiations to work through.

The 24-year-old would love a call-up to the NSW team, and wouldn't be fazed if he was called in to play centre, despite not playing that position so far in 2019.

"I would say I could [handle it]," Gutherson said on Wednesday night.

"I'm in good physical condition, I do all the tough stuff but there's plenty of players putting their hands up.

"I would love to [play] every player wants to play Origin."

  1. As a manly fan I disagree with Dessy talking to the media about interest in Gutho just to inflate the price parra paid.
    It’s very cheeky if Des.
    Gutho is only worth 400k

  2. Glad we didn’t sign him, overated and injury prone…..
Lol… nah it’s a good signing for eels he’s the heart of soul of the club and team and will really develop now he’s settled and can hopefully get some good injury free footy in..

does this ring a bell what you said the other day

” I’ve heard he is signing for manly for 4 years and will only cost us 50k a season more then Dylan walkers money already we pay and he will be let go. Whilst walker is a better centre then gutho he is way more versatile and with injuries and lack of depth we have gutho means more then walker”

or when you said “he is a local junior and he means more to us at Manly”
