Mitchell Aubusson also won Clubman of the Year and became the first player in the Award's history to win it three times. Moses also picked up the Player's Player of the Year Award for a stellar season involving a team-high 18 assists, which also put Moses in the top five in that category across the league. Tom Trbojevic took home the Player of the Year award just 12 months after being named the club's Rookie of the Year. 'Turbo' scored 10 tries this season and was a key player for the Sea Eagles playing either on the wing or at fullback. Tom's brother Jake was handed the Player's Player of the Year for his fantastic season. Trbojevic was instrumental and played in all but one of Manly's matches in 2016, with the brothers hoping to step it up another level next season. Ma'u played 22 games for Parramatta and lead the team in runs this season, and was no doubt a shining light for the Eels in an otherwise disappointing and controversial season. Klemmer played in 22 games for the Bulldogs in 2016 and made a huge impact, carrying the ball forward 366 times, making 3413m and 540 tackles in defence at an average of 25.7 per game. Hodgson and Papalii both polled 19 votes for the season, edging out Jordan Rapana and Joey Leilua on 17 points, with Jack Wighton (14) and Jarrod Croker (13) rounding out the top six. The combination of Leilua and Rapana could not be separated in the voting and they were also announced joint Coaches Award winners, after a stunning season on the right edge for the Green Machine. Gold Coast Titans Paul Broughton Medal: Ryan James Members Most Valuable Player: Ryan James Rookie of the Year: Ash Taylor Try of the Year Award: Ash Taylor (round 3 v Wests Tigers) Coach’s Award (NRL): Zeb Taia Community Award: Darren Robb NYC Player of the Year: Max King NYC True Titan Award: Josh Rogers The Preston Award: Matt Srama and Kane Elgey Ryan James has crowned his best season since debuting for the Titans in 2010 by winning the prestigious Paul Broughton Medal tonight as the club’s best player for 2016. He was one of four players who participated in all of the Titans’ 25 matches in 2016 along with Paasi, Josh Hoffman and Chris McQueen. James’ victory continued the prop forwards’ dominance of the award, taking the front-rowers’ tally to six medals in 10 years after Luke Bailey (2007, 2010, 2011), Nate Myles (2012) and Luke Douglas last season. Merrin played 25 games for the Panthers in 2016, finishing with five tries, 56 offloads, 861 tackles and 3891 running metres. With enthusiasm and passion, he embraced the role of leading the young and relatively inexperienced Panthers forward pack into battle every week. The Broncos custodian has been an absolute rock in defence at the back disarming opposition bombs, grubbers and charges at the tryline, while chiming perfectly into attacking backline moves to panic and shred enemy defences. This is Sam’s second award for the night also winning the 2016 Jack Rayner Players’ Player Award. This will be Sam’s 11th Rabbitohs award. Sam becomes just the third player to have won the George Piggins Medal on multiple occasions, level with team mate Greg Inglis with two wins in 2013 and 2015, and behind team mate and back row partner John Sutton who has won the prestigious award on three occasions in 2009, 2012 and 2013. Just over a week after being named the game’s best player – alongside Melbourne Storm playmaker Cooper Cronk – 23-year-old wrecking ball Taumalolo was awarded the Paul Bowman Medal, given annually to the Cowboy of the Year, at a glittering event at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre. Leading the NRL in running metres in 2016, Taumalolo produced a devastating 2016 campaign, playing in all 27 Cowboys games to help his team to the preliminary final. The local Corrimal Cougars junior was selected by both his peers and coaching staff following a stand out season that included three tries, 694 tackles, 220 runs and 2,009 metres in total throughout season. Fullback Josh Dugan was named as the Red V Members ‘Player of the Year’ following a strong year which saw him end the season having made 314 runs for 2,894 metres in 17 games for the Club. The New Zealand international polled 14 votes in his first eight games before finishing on 31 to be named the Club’s best player for the 2016 season. It is yet another accolade in what has been yet another stellar season for Bromwich. As well as being named the 2016 Dally M Prop of the Year he was handed the New Zealand captaincy in May’s Trans Tasman test and will again lead the Kiwis at the Four Nations tournament later this month.
