Rabbitohs halfback Ashton Ward is confirmed to miss the remaining four games this season after suffering a hamstring injury against the Parramatta Eels.
The club has confirmed in its injury update report that Ward's season has come to an end after he suffered a high-grade hamstring tear last weekend.
The injury occurred in the first half as he attempted a conversion after his side scored a try.
After missing the conversion, he was seen limping and would be taken off the field.
The club was quick to put ice on his hamstring and ruled him out for the rest of the game as the Rabbitohs escaped with a four-point victory.
When he was taken off the field, Jayden Sullivan replaced him.
Jamie Humphreys, who played against the Eels, will be monitored week-to-week as he manages a chronic ankle issue.
With Ward and Sullivan on the sidelines, Sullivan was named in the Rabbitohs squad to play halfback when they take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in what is a must-win for the club if they want to make the finals.
Ashton Ward has quickly impressed the Rabbitohs, making his debut in 2025 and has made 19 appearances so far in his career.
Originally, Ward signed a Jersey Flegg contract at the club and has quickly fast-tracked through the ranks.
Ward was elevated into the NRL Top 30 squad, where he took on playmaking duties for his side.
The Gerringong Lions junior won the Rabbitohs' NSW Cup Player of the Year award last year, which became a major driving force for an extension until the end of 2026 on an NSWRL contract.
The 22-year-old recently signed a two-year extension with the club until the end of 2028 and has shown his potential to be the Rabbitohs' halfback of the future.
In Ward's 13 appearances this season, he averaged 378.6 kicking metres per game, forced 4 drop-outs, 12 line-break assists, among his 10 try assists.
