The Sydney Roosters have told Sam Walker's management he has until Monday to sign a new deal with the club, or it could be taken off the table.

Walker and the Roosters have been going back and forth for much of the year over a potential new deal and his value.

At multiple points, it has appeared as if the Roosters may have been holding out to assess their options, potentially not sold on Walker as their future long-term number seven.

That has ultimately not come to pass though, with it now understood the Roosters are well into conversation with Walker's management over his future.

As it stands, the Roosters have offered Walker around $1.3 million per season on his next deal, well short of the $1.7 million it was originally tipped Walker could have been chasing, with the halfback then potentially to hold out for November 1 where the PNG Chiefs may have come to the table on a figure around that mark.

But it's now reported by News Corp that Walker has told his management to get a deal done with the Roosters by the Monday deadline, with the tri-colours not interested in entering a November 1 bidding war for his signature.

It means the deal could be announced next week if ticked off, with Walker currently in Kangaroos camp, but willing to get things over the line to avoid heading to the speculation of November.

Talks between the Roosters and Walker's management have only resumed recently, having been paused during the finals series where Walker was instrumental in winning the tri-colours a premiership.

His late season form, it's understood, has been a big part of the reason the Roosters are open to paying Walker well north of seven figures in 2028 and beyond.

It's understood the extension will be somewhere between three and five years.
