The Melbourne Storm have begun the process of locking down future talent by securing the signature of versatile utility Stanley Huen.
According to Code Sports, the 21-year-old has officially put pen-to-paper after making four appearances for the Storm this season.
Off-contract at the end of this season, Huen, who climbed through the ranks as a five-eighth but has recently been utilised as a lock forward, was part of the club's pathways system for four years before signing his maiden NRL contract in 2024.
A former vice-captain for the QLD Maroons' Under-19s State of Origin team, Stanley has been praised for his immense leadership and willingness to learn.
Having been on a development deal for the last two seasons, it is unclear at this stage whether the contract extension will promote Huen to the club's top 30 for the 2027 season.
With his NRL debut this season, he has ticked off one of the two goals he set for himself in 2023.
"The end goal is to hopefully make it in the NRL and open my own barbering business, so my fan base from the NRL feeds into my barber shop business," Huen had said.
"I have a backup plan, and it's a pretty good back up plan if you ask me."
The 21-year-old won't be in action this weekend as both the Storm's first grade and NSW cup sides both have a bye.
