The South Sydney Rabbitohs have confirmed a two-year contract extension for prop Sean Keppie, tying him to the club until the end of 2028.
The prop, now 28 years of age, joined the Rabbtiohs in 2024 and has been a prominant part of the middle third rotation.
Keppie is formerly an Australian Schoolboys player who debuted with the Manly Sea Eagles in 2019, playing 134 games in first-grade across his time with South Sydney and Manly.
His form has improved this year, with Keppie putting in plenty of solid efforts as part of Wayne Bennett's middling forward pack at the Maroubra-based club.
Of his 134 games, 55 have come at South Sydney, with the former Australian Schoolboy realising some of his enormous potential that saw him rated as one of the best junior players in the game when he was progressing through pathways on the Northern Beaches.
The club's director of football Mark Ellison talked Keppei up as a forward leader.
“Sean has put his best foot forward at our Club, particularly this season, and he has earned his new contract,” Ellison said.
“He has become one of the leaders in our forward pack and has adapted his game to the faster game being played in the NRL this year.
“We're looking forward to seeing the continued improvement that he is showing each week and to him continuing his good form over the next two seasons.”
Keppie's role will likely stay similar heading into 2027.
While the club lose Keaon Koloamatangi to the St George Illawarra Dragons, they replace him with Payne Haas, who completes a stunning move from the Brisbane Broncos at the end of this year.
Keppie, whether off the bench or in the starting side, is a solid performer and has particularly improved his defence this year, saying re-signing with the club was an easy call.
“I'm really happy to be staying here at Souths. It really feels like home to me and my family,” Keppie said.
“We have a tight bond as a team, I really value Wayne (Bennett) and the coaching staff here for helping me play my best footy, and I feel like there is more to come in the next few years.
“The Members and fans here are first class, they are always very supportive of our team, and I feel like we can bring them the success they want over the next few seasons.
“I love it here at Souths and I can't wait to see what we can achieve for the rest of this season and in the years ahead.”
Keppie and the Rabbitohs clash with the Cantebrury Bulldogs on Friday night in what is a crunch match for the make-up of the top eight.
