Two of the few teams unaffected by Origin selections, both Souths and the Eels will know this is their time to rise up the NRL ladder.

Mitchell Moses will look to register his first win in Eels colours this weekend, with the Eels defensive lapses costing them dearly last week against Canberra.

Meanwhile, South Sydney battled hard last week against the Storm but in the end, were simply outclassed by a better opponent. Robbie Farah will no doubt be stinging after being overlooked in the Origin arena and will be out to prove his doubters wrong this weekend. His form has been building as he begins to log more minutes on his new side.

The Eels will be without Michael Jennings but will welcome back Brad Takairangi in the centres as they try to buck the Rabbitohs recent dominance over them which has included nine wins from their past 11 meetings.

If the Rabbitohs can hold their defensive line, they should be able to get the win, with the Eels leaky defence coupled with the attacking flair of the Rabbitohs big guns too much to overcome for the blue and gold boys.

Souths by 6.

    • Zane Musgrove is still very young for a prop forward at only 21-years young.
Madge gave him a go at starting early on in the season but it is the consensus that the heat of the game early on doesn’t suit him and always seemed to get manhandled by the hardened professionals so it was thought that coming off the bench after the sting was gone suits him better.

You are correct about Rochow though, he isn’t any good.
Expect Rochow to be shown the door after only 1 season with us, he is useless.

  1. Kenny Edward’s is a dog shoudnt have been born. And Matagi should get 5 weeks for his dog trip.

    • What you talking about willis?
What did Kenny do that has upset you so much? Kenny was up to his usual antics but I don’t recall anything illegal?
As for Matagis trip, well grub only gets a week or two for regular blatant trips.

  2. Missed the first 1/2hr of the game but from what i did see the NRL needs better refs and just get rid of the bunker.

  3. I’d be the first to admit both sides were pretty ordinary tonight, but it’s not the job of the umpires to make a contest of it.

I won’t say we should have got a better margin, because we didn’t deserve one, but the Bunnies should have got a much worse one, if not for some “special treatment”.

  4. Again couldn’t keep it going for 80 minutes but definitely deserved the win. The ending was interesting with the “forward” pass from Hoffman and the “try” at the death. Disappointing too as I think Atkins has been a standout for the refs this year. At the end of the day it just shows that they can have off games like the players.

    • Hoffman restored some of the faith I had lost in him over recent weeks, not a great effort but better than recent. His break up the middle was very good against a disinterested bunnies pack.
Moses was very good last and his switching of plays from open to blind and blind to open causes no end of confusion for bunnies.
While we had Moses, the refs certainly wanted to do their part to part the seas for a bunnies comeback. That forward was pass call was absolutely terrible, it was a perfect pass in that hands went back and smith was behind him when he received it, the bunker try makes you wonder what they were watching at times.
Kaysa was good lifting and driving sammy boi a number of times.
Eels were good, not great but bunnies were awful.

      • Hoffman had his best game as an eel. He worked harder and had some good touches. His defence still leaves a lot to be desired but some good signs. Kaysa also had his best game of the season, the tackles in Burgess were good, but I liked his energy from dummy half. Moses looked good and if he continues that kind of form when Norman is back we will be in good hands.

I think Vave needs some time in Wenty and needs to lose a few kgs. He just looks slow and overweight and doesn’t offer much. Matagai was better than recent weeks but still not where he was at the start of the year.

All in all a better effort but still need to put it together for 80 minutes.

  5. Well the refs did their best to get the bunnines the win in that one.
Hoffman made a beautiful break up the field and put a perfect pass to Smith who scored but it was called a forward. It was never forward.
The bunnies last try was a clear as day knock on. The video ref looked at it half a dozen times and you could see he knocked it on in every shot they looked at yet they awarded them the try.
The real scoreline should have been 28-6
It was good to see the Eels smaller forwards dominate the bunnies big pack. Kaysa put Sam on his backside twice with beautiful tackles.
Good win boys despite the refs best efforts to hand the win to Souths.

  6. Good win Parra, once you get rid of that child Kenny Edwards you’ll have a great team.

    • I’ve always liked Edwards, and now he clearly has a Manly supporter offside, I like him even more.

But I have to ask, what did he do to upset you so?
