Penrith Panthers and Australian Kangaroos captain has been taken from the field before halftime during the club's clash with the New Zealand Warriors on Friday evening with concerns for a pectoral muscle injury.
Yeo came reeling out of a tackle just five minutes before halftime, and replays seemed to show almost immediately the mecahnism of a pectoral muscle injury.
He was immediately taken to the dressing rooms for further assessment.
After halftime, it was revealed the Panthers are fearful of either a pectoral muscle or shoulder injury.
"The biggest news out of the Panthers sheds is that Yeo will not return to the game. It is a shoulder or pec injury. They are yet to confirm exactly what it is," Fox Sports reporter Courtney Tairi said on the sideline during the broadcast.
A serious pectoral muscle injury would end Yeo's season and ruin his chances of playing for the Kangaroos at the World Cup on home soil with a standard return timeline being up to three months.
The Panthers will be sweating on the injury being something other than a major pectoral muscle injury, with hope it could be minor, or something else that has gone wrong.
Pectoral muscle injuries have been on the rise in recent years in the NRL, with most clubs impacted at one point or another.
If Yeo does miss significant game time, it's likely Lindsay Smith will take over at lock, with Liam Henry promoted into the starting side at prop. It's a play Ivan Cleary used during the State of Origin period when Yeo was missing on duty with the NSW Blues.
The Panthers, travelling to Auckland in Indigenous Round, have found themselves ambushed during the first half, and are down 18 points to nil just minutes out from the halftime interval.
MORE TO COME.
