Penrith have re-signed Caleb Aekins to a two-year deal, which will see him remain a Panther until at least the end of the 2020 season.
Aekins is yet to make his NRL debut, but has impressed for the club in both the NYC and Intrust Super Premiership NSW over the past few seasons.
The 20-year-old was selected for the NSW Residents last month, and helped the Blues defeat Queensland in a curtain-raiser to Origin II.
Penrith's Executive General Manager Phil Gould was pleased to announce Aekins' re-signing, and believes he is ready to make his first grade debut in the near future.
"Caleb has progressed through the Panthers development system and established himself as an NRL player of the future," Gould told penrithpanthers.com.au.
"He fully deserved his call-up to the NSW Residents side and was close to the best player on the field.
"Caleb can play several positions and this versatility will enhance his chances of making his NRL debut in the near future."
