The MRC has handed down one charge following Tonga's 36-0 victory over Lebanon in the first game of the second week of the Rugby League World Cup.

Tonga kept the Cedars scoreless on Friday night, producing a dominant defensive and attacking performance to continue its campaign.

Lebanon managed to withstand multiple early repeat sets on its own line, scrambling to keep Tonga at bay before the red and white finally broke through after 12 minutes of sustained pressure.

From there, Tonga continued to find points, crossing for another six tries to complete the 36-point victory.

Their forward pack proved difficult to contain, dominating the defensive battle and leaving Lebanon searching for answers throughout the contest.

Despite the physical nature of the match, only one player was charged by the MRC following the fixture.

Tonga playmaker Latu Fainu was handed a Grade 1 careless high tackle charge for contact with Lebanon halfback Alex Conti.

Fainu is expected to accept a warning given it is his first offence, with the charge unlikely to have any impact on his availability moving forward.

However, should he elect to challenge the charge at the judiciary and be found guilty, he would face a one-match suspension.

Conti was among Lebanon's best performers on the night, showing plenty of heart and determination despite the heavy defeat.

The halfback continued to compete against Tonga's pressure and has made a great impression ahead of his season in Bulldogs colours.
