An upset Sam Thaiday lashed out on social media against Kangaroo's coach Mal Meninga following his omission from the Kangaroo's squad for this year's World Cup.
Mal Meninga has since responded and apologised for the "complete and honest oversight".
It wasn't the omission that angered the former representative prop the most, rather it was the way Meninga handled the situation.
Meninga hadn't called or messaged Thaiday to inform him regarding the selection snub. Thaiday believes he hadn't been treated with the respect someone who had played ten years for Queensland and Australia should.
"It was a complete and honest oversight," Meninga told Fairfax Media.
"I didn't handle it the best way, as he mentioned in his social media [post], and I agree it. I called him and apologised.
"Given my association with him over the last decade or more, he deserves more respect from me and the game. I can't be more apologetic."
Thaiday repeatedly used the word respect in his social media spray, following the poem he wrote in a hospital bed when the Australian team were touring England in the Four Nations.
