Gold Coast Titans centre Jojo Fifita has inked an extra two years on his contract, keeping him at the club until 2029.
Fifita has progressed into a State of Origin calibre talent in 2026, earning the call-up in all three games by former coach Billy Slater to don the famous QLD Maroons jersey.
In 78 appearances since his NRL debut in 2022, Fifita has crossed to score on 35 occasions during his time in the Titans' outside backs.
This year alone, the Dunedin-born product scored eight tries while playing in the centres for Josh Hannay, and has impressed with his return carries out of his own end.
It saw him average 116 metres per game, with 11 line breaks and four try assists.
Fifita's Maroons campaign this year was noteworthy, and showed he belonged in the Origin arena with two tries, five tackle breaks and displaying his trademark class with 146 run metres on average across the three games.
Coach Hannay praised Fifita's athletic attributes following a successful year on the paddock at clubland and representative level.
"It's a huge coup to have Jojo remain a Titan and he has gone to another level in his career this year," Hannay said in a Titans statement.
"Headlined by his Maroons debut earlier in the season, I know how much of a proud moment that was for him and his family, and I can see him being a decade-long Origin player for Queensland in the future.
"Jojo has got some outstanding natural attributes. He's powerful, he's got genuine speed and he's capable of creating something every time he gets the ball; but what excites us most is that he's still got plenty of growth left in his game.
"He wants to learn, he wants to improve and he wants to be the best player he can be, especially with positional certainty and his role within our team.
"Jojo's progression this year is indicative of the patience required with these good young players. Consistency takes time and now 78 games into his career, he's become a consistent high performing NRL player.
"The many good young players we're bringing through our program like Jojo will also benefit from being given the necessary time and patience to grow."
Meanwhile, Fifita is confident he will remain a Titan for life and is excited to see where the Titans can reach in future years under Hannay's guidance.
"This club means a lot to me. I'm a one club man and hopefully it stays that way for a long time," Fifita said.
"Family is also a big thing for me and being so close to them is another major part of extending.
"I can see the clear direction this club is heading. I know this season hasn't been the best of years for us results-wise, but I see improvement every week and our squad are really buying into what we want to achieve here at the Titans with Josh as our coach.
"With time, we're just going to keep getting better."
The Titans finished second last this season and will regroup in November to commence preseason training for a stronger year in 2027.
