Penrith Panthers have confirmed the release of Matt Moylan, allowing him to pursue another opportunity at another NRL club.

The 26-year-old has played 89 first-grade games for the Panthers since his debut in 2013, scoring 26 tries in that time.

"I'm sure I speak for everyone here at Panthers in wishing Matt all the best for this next phase of his life," Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould AM said.

"We will follow his football career with great interest."

The worst kept secret in rugby league has now been confirmed with Moylan putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

Moylan's position is yet to be determined however his flexibility gives coach Shane Flanagan plenty of promise for next season and beyond.

โ€œTo have Matt on board is going to add a few things to our team, especially offensively,โ€ Flanagan said. โ€œHe can play in the halves, he can play fullback. Heโ€™s got great versatility, heโ€™ll fit into our team and give us some depth in those positions and heโ€™s not too fussed where he plays.

โ€œI think itโ€™s a great signing for the club and Iโ€™m looking forward to working with him.โ€

Moylan said he was excited to be joining the 2016 premiers

โ€œItโ€™s a new chapter in my career and Iโ€™m looking forward to getting out here and playing some good footy,โ€ Moylan said. โ€œIโ€™m excited about the new opportunity and wherever I end up playing Iโ€™ll be happy.

โ€œHopefully I can have a good off-season and hit the ground running next year.โ€
