Canberra Raiders youngster Chevy Stewart looks as though he'll be at a different club in 2026.
Despite being contracted in the capital until the end of next season, the club have permitted him to explore his options.
Given the incredible rise of Kaeo Weekes, Stewart's path to the NRL looks as though it will be blocked off.
Signed from the Sharks with a view to being the long-term option in the one, Stewart has played NRL on just three occasions.
That said, at just 20 years of age, this kid has all the talent to forge out a super NRL career in the coming years.
It just looks as though that won't be representing the Green Machine.
Here are five potential landing spots for Chevy Stewart:
4. South Sydney Rabbitohs
I know, I know. The Bunnies have a pretty handy fullback. Why would they need another, right?
Unfortunately, if there's one consistent thing across the past few seasons for the Rabbitohs, it's the inconsistency regarding Latrell Mitchell's availability.
He'll play 10 games this season after being ruled out for the year. This follows previous tallies of 11 games in 2024 and 16 games in 2023.
Alex Johnston is a very handy fullback option, but the Bunnies need a ready-made fullback ready to step up.
It looks as though Jye Gray will be moving on, so it would be a like-for-like replacement, at a cheaper rate.
Gray is too good to be playing in NSW Cup. He knows this and has been linked to the Sharks, amongst other clubs.
The Stewart pick-up only makes sense if Gray moves on. If the dynamo stays with Souths next season, as he is contracted to do, then there's no link here.
If Gray moves on, though, Souths can add a player of considerable talent. Stewart would also see a path to regular first grade.
Given Souths' horror injury run over the past few seasons, and Stewart's ability to play in the centres, he may be called upon more often than not.
