The NRL era is approaching three decades old, having kicked off in 1998 after the bitter Super League war drew to a close.

In that time, every club bar the two expansion franchises have won a premiership or featured in a grand final, and while some have had more success than others, every club will note some excellent signings over the journey.

Pulling back the curtain on those signings, here are the players we mark as the best for each club.

Penrith Panthers - Apisai Koroisau

It's hard to go past a number of local juniors or NRL level club debutants as Penrith's best over the years. Isaah Yeo, Luke Lewis and James Fisher-Harris all played over 200 games for the club after debuting at the foot of the mountains, while Moses Leota and Nathan Cleary should clear those milestones this year.

Their clear best signing from outside the club is Apisai Koroisau.

He lit up the dummy half role at Penrith for years after coming across from Manly, and was part of the club's start of the rein of success.

He didn't stick around for all of it, but there is little doubt of his importance during Penrith's rise to the top of the competition, and beginning of a dynasty.

    • Why? Sure hes helped change the culture but the dogs haven’t looked close to winning a comp unlike with other guys mentioned. I think Critta is one of their best signings but he needs a grand final before he gets put in the same category as those mentioned here. I also doubt they’ll go close this year until they settle on a 7.
