Cody Walker's son, Kian, has signed a long-term deal with the South Sydney Rabbitohs to play Harold Matthews for the foundation club.
Despite his old-man not having a contract beyond this year, CODE Sports is revealing Kian has signed a multi-year deal to continue his trajectory into an NRL star after impressing in the lower grades.
It is understood the young Indigenous star will compete for the Matts' fullback jersey for Souths, while joining John Morris' son, Cruz, in the lineup.
Cody's future at South Sydney remains uncertain, with the 36-year-old still unsigned for 2027.
Teammates Jack Wighton and Campbell Graham were full of praise for Walker's skill, leadership and ability and called for his extension to see him go round one more year.
"Yeah, sign the old bastard up," Wighton said with a smile last week.
"He's the most skilful half in the comp if you ask me.
"We all love him, and hopefully he gets another year round."
Meanwhile, Graham declared Walker's presence on the field is immensely beneficial to the side, and acts as a coach out there to get the South Sydney side around the park.
“I think performance wise, I think he's still right up there in terms of creative halves in the competition, and what else Cody brings to our squad, which is measurable in terms of the benefits that players around him get, is his coaching ability as well," he added.
“It is almost like having a member of the coaching staff out there with you. That's how in-depth his knowledge of the game is, it's really incredible.
“I don't think I've played with a player who has had a better understanding of what other players are perceiving on the field."
Walker sits on 242 matches in the NRL, with 19 appearances in the red and green during his eleventh season, he is still at the top of his game with 19 try assists and 21 line break assists, placing him in the top echelon of halves in the competition.
