Top FIVE potential landing spots for Dominic Young

Rugby league is the gift that just keep on giving! Last night, while I was recording a show, news broke that Dominic Young had been given permission to explore his options by the Roosters. This game, which we all love, is never short on talking points. Right away, the Roosters' fan base was split. Some couldn't believe the club was letting the try-scoring monster go, while others offered to drive him to his next club. Attention soon turned to the potential market for the two-metre tall, 23-year-old. 12 months ago, there wasn't a club in the competition that wouldn't have been in for the speedster. Now? Well, I still believe there is a large market, given the incredible highlight reel Young has produced. Below are five potential destinations for Dom Young: Newcastle Knights The obvious choice, and club quickly linked, was Young's former club, the Newcastle Knights. Young's 2023 season was an all-timer. He and Greg Marzhew were arguably the best two-wingers in the game that season. Young crossed for 25 tries. Many of them are try-of-the-season contenders. His move to the Roosters looked another example of the big, bad club from the big city stealing a superstar and pinching another Premiership. Young was good in 2024 - great at times. Unfortunately, his form dropped off in 2025, but he's still only 23 years old. Newcastle fans were quick to unite in believing that the English international should return immediately. James Schiller has done a more than serviceable job for the Knights during his time there, but the chance to reunite Young and Marzhew would be too good to pass up. The only potential issue is the salary cap. We all know the Knights are welcoming Dylan Brown to the club next season on ridiculous money, while a certain headgear-wearing fullback is on a pretty penny. I'm not sure how they get it done, but it's something they need to explore! South Sydney Rabbitohs The Bunnies need troops. They need bodies! I have no doubt the Roosters are willing to tip in a fair amount of Young's contract for 2025, but his next club would have to carry full freight moving forward. Young walks into the current Souths line-up. Probably even their full strength side ... if that even exists anymore. Wayne Bennett has made a career out of getting the best out of wayward players. He made Dane Gagai a star. Dom Young hasn't gone through all the off-field issues that Gagai did, so I'd argue he's a much better prospect in that regard. I love Campbell Graham but he is not a winger. Graham and Wighton back in the centres is absolutely the go. Young and Johnston on the wing will ensure the Bunnies score points for fun. Again, I'm not sure where the Bunnies cap is at right now but if they can navigate through 2025, with the Roosters help, I'm sure moves can be made for next year and beyond. Whether or not the Roosters would want to assist their old rival though? That's doubtful. Perth Bears (via a one-year deal elsewhere) I'm shocked we haven't already seen the hulking winger linked with the incoming Perth Bears. Unfortunately, the NRL's newest franchise isn't officially official yet. Even though it totally is ... Dominic Young would be an incredible first-up signing for the side. He's extremely marketable, a superstar on his day and they can even offer direct flights to London if Young ever wants a "quick" trip home. Of course, he'd need a year elsewhere before plying his trade in the famous red and black. More on this below. Melbourne Storm Piggybacking off the before entry, I see the Storm as the perfect, short-term home for Dom Young. Grant Anderson is heavily linked with a move to the Broncos, while Sua Fa'alogo will surely be playing fullback somewhere else full time in the near future. I'm not sure if William Warbrick has a move into the centres in him, but if he does, this could be frightening. Even if not, imagine having Dom Young and Xavier Coates on the wings. Yikes! No team would ever win a contest in the air again. This would likely be a short-term option, but if the Storm can land Young for a year or a year and a bit, the results would be scary. Can you imagine a player of Young's talents under Craig Bellamy in that Storm system? Join me in hoping that the Storm don't have the cap space to make this a reality! Super League At 23 years of age, Young is not even in the peak years of his career. It would be a shame to lose him from the NRL. If he does want a fresh start, there's always the chance he and the Roosters can organise to cut ties completely. If this is a possibility, Young could return to the Super League and become the best winger in the competition over night. I'm a huge fan of the English game, but Dominic Young would be a cheat code for whichever team he chose to join. Outside of Wigan, I don't really have a run down of which team needs what etc but Young would start at every single club in the competition. I don't want this to happen as selfishly, I want to keep enjoying Dom Young's talents at a reasonable hour. That said, Young is still a kid in terms of life experience. A move back home may prove the career kickstart he needs.
