8. Moment 8: Standout 2021 State of Origin Series
Latrell Mitchell's 2021 State of Origin series was a standout comeback after missing 2020 through injury and being dropped in 2019.
In Game 1, Mitchell was a key figure in NSW's 50-6 win, scoring two tries, securing 10 points, and making an impressive one-on-one strip to set up Josh Addo-Carr's try. He also had a near length of the field intercept, ran for 167 metres, and made 10 tackle breaks.
Mitchell scored again in Game 2, a 26-0 Blues victory, and added another interception to his tally. This win declared their series theirs as they looked to achieve the clean sweep. In Game 3, with Nathan Cleary absent, he kicked 3/3 conversions and scored a try, responsible for 10 of the Blues' 18 points. Though the Blues lost the game, Mitchell finished as co-top try scorer alongside Tom Trbojevic, having scored in every game of the series.
