Knights prop Herman Ese'ese could be on his way out of the club, according to a report by The Newcastle Herald.

It is understood that Ese'ese responded to his round one axing by "making discrete inquiries" about a potential move back to his native New Zealand.

The 24-year old lost his father to cancer last year and Knighs coach Nathan Brown is reportedly unsure if Ese'ese's head is in the right space.

There is no word at this stage if Newcastle would consider releasing Ese'ese or even confirmation if he wants out of the club.

Brown has an abundance of options in the middle forwards, with the Saifiti brothers and Pasami Saulo all expected to return from injury soon.

  1. Wouldn’t mind him here at my Warriors but we already have a few props that are big hitters and strong runners. He’s only young and could be an awesome player which is why I’d sign him but it’s probably not the best career move and not exactly what we need.
Warriors should try sign Joseph Manu, Kevin Proctor and Kodi Nikorima (all off contract 2020). And be looking to get rid of Solomone Kata, Ligi Sao and Karl Lawton.

      • You surely aren’t a Warriors supporter if your suggesting we need another hooker. Issac Luke is a top hooker he just gets injured more often now that he’s older. But we already have Roache, who plays hooker really well and similar to Luke. We have Teveaga who played hooker under 20s and can cover that position but is more of a lock now. We also have Sam Cook and Karl Lawton in reserves.
Kodi Nikorima only looks bad cause he plays for the broncoes with Anthony Milford. They struggle because they have two natural ball runners and he cops most the blame cause he’s a kiwi in an Aussie team and Milford is there million dollar man. Nikorima was awesome for the kiwis and shines every second game for the broncoes. At the Warriors next to Blake Green he would be a cheap like for like with Johnson. He runs the ball well and has good 5th tackle kicks.
Kevin Proctor I know isn’t the same player he was at the Storm but you’d pay him taking that into consideration. Something like 4/500k for 3 years. His form would improve a hell of a lot playing his former teammates Tohu Harris and Adam Blair and under coach Kearney. He’d definitely help on defense to replace what we lost when Mannering retired which is around 40 tackles per game and good carries with some offloads.

Joseph Manu is the player we want tho. He’s young, exciting, strong, fast and good both in defense and attacking. Solomone Katas contract expires this year and no doubt he will get a big upgrade with the media hyping him up. And he just isn’t good enough. He makes handling errors, poor reads on defense a lot and doesn’t pass the ball enough on attack for a centre.

      • Have to agree with you. Nikorima cops a lot more than he deserves, I’d say that he plays better than Milford most games and still cops the flak. Playing next to a half like Green could help take him to the next level.

  2. Eseese was named on the bench in 1st grade but was replaced by Josh King. Did he play reserves or what? If his heads not right he should be stood down or given leave until he can play – or show him the door and a ticket to NZ.
