Oh I love this sport!
Two days ago I put together a landing destinations for Dominic Young. Yesterday is was David Fifita. Today it is Sandon Smith.
All three players who have contracts beyond this year. All three players I swore teams were building their futures around.
Ok, so today's news. Sandon Smith, the man who was previously most likely to join Sam Walker in the tri-colours for many years to come.
News has broken that he is being shopped. We'll take the news at face value. Of course, we all know what is really coming.
The worst-kept secret in rugby league may even have been confirmed before this drops, but for now, we focus on Smith.
Below are FIVE potential landing destinations for Sandon Smith:
I feel really harsh today but I'm going to call it as I see it. The Titans, much like the Bunnies, are a mess.
They cannot continue to run with two fullbacks in the halves. Not without a genuine number seven.
I see Sandon Smith as more a six than a seven but a potential halves partnership with Jayden Campbell is an exciting prospect.
Keiran Foran will likely retire at the end of the season. What do you do with Brimson? That needs to be decided but he can't play in the halves.
Smith is a better, genuine half, than anyone on the books on the Gold Coast. Ok I'll concede Foran but his body is showing the wear and tear of a brilliant career.
There's evidently a clause in Hasler's contract that says they can move him on if the Titans don't make the eight.
Well, the Titans aren't making the eight so I'd be signing Sandon Smith so that the incoming coach next season has a half to work with.
