The last few seasons have seen a number of young prospects sign big money, long-term deals with various NRL clubs. These sorts of deals have made some club hierarchies look like geniuses and other morons.
Take a look below at five clubs that have been vindicated, and others humiliated.
1. Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs
The only club that has the honour of featuring on this list twice, this time it is a negative for the men from Belmore.
While they performed some savvy business in the past by re-signing then 19-year old David Klemmer to a big money contract, the next piece of business will be looked upon far less favourably in Canterbury's history books.
The deal I'm talking of is, of course, their decision to pick up Suli on a three-year deal worth around $430,000 a season.
After the Tigers lost faith in their prodigal son following a drastic gain in weight and commitment issues, the Bulldogs thought they had it in them to get the best out of the enigmatic young star. Picking up the value of his contract going forward following his slightly suspicious release.
Sadly, no one could have predicted what ensued. After being released by the Tigers at the start of February, the Bulldogs would do the same by the end of the same month.
According to Fox Sports, Suli had received two warnings within his first two weeks at Belmore from Bulldogs Chief Executive Andrew Hill. Suli's contract would later be terminated after arriving at training late for the umpteenth time, only three days after begging for a final chance.
Although the Tongan international has bags of potential, this will have to go down as one of Canterbury's worst pieces of business in the NRL era. They can just be thankful they don't have to carry some of the freight of his contract going forward, which can't be said about other stars they have released in recent years.

Don’t worry. Manly will get the best out of Sulli. Just like we turned hopeless TRex into an international before going to the dogs to ruin his career. Des has the same Bellamy touch.
