The NRL era is approaching three decades old, having kicked off in 1998 after the bitter Super League war drew to a close.

In that time, every club bar the two expansion franchises have won a premiership or featured in a grand final, and while some have had more success than others, every club will note some excellent signings over the journey.

Pulling back the curtain on those signings, here are the players we mark as the best for each club.

Canberra Raiders - Joseph Tapine

A number of the Raiders' best players over the years were club originals. Games record holder Josh Papalii, Jarrod Croker, Jack Wighton and Alan Tongue are all names that come to mind when you think of the best Raiders' in years gone by.

Many of their best signings of the NRL era have actually hailed from England.

Elliott Whitehead and Josh Hodgson were certainly under consideration for the top gong here, but ultimately, it's very difficult to go past Joseph Tapine.

His career isn't yet over, but he is in the top three or four props in the game right now, and will continue that in 2026 as he leads the Raiders' pack.

Anything good that has happened to the club since 2016 has featured Tapine at the forefront, with the forward now having 210 games notched up for the green machine.
