With the NRL season coming to a close, those who started a new chapter in their rugby league career have been given ample time to prove their worth to their new teammates, clubs and fans.
Naturally, some have disappointed, with veterans failing to live up to their reputations, or young talent thrown in the deep end too quickly.
However, some have been just as good on the pitch as they originally seemed on paper.
Whether it be bargain buys, diamonds in the rough or blockbuster signings, these are the players who have not only met expectations but exceeded them, transforming their teams in both subtle and spectacular ways.
So, in no particular order, here are the eight best signings of the 2025 NRL season.
3Gehamat Shibasaki
From a train-and-trial deal to State of Origin, Gehamat Shibasaki's comeback is arguably the story of the year.
After an unsuccessful one-game loan spell at the Rabbitohs in 2024, his NRL playing days were seemingly all but over.
He signed a train-and-trial deal with the Broncos at the start of the year, initially only wanting to build his fitness for the Queensland Cup.
Yet, not only did 'Shiba' exceed his own expectations, but he exceeded the expectations of everyone in the rugby league community.
After securing a starting spot in the centres for Round 1, Shibasaki hasn't looked back since, being a mainstay in this Broncos side, with 16 tries, 21 line breaks, 102 tackle breaks and averaging 153 metres per game.
Not to mention, the 26-year-old was also selected by Billy Slater to represent Queensland in Game 3 of State of Origin, a testament to his dedication and hard work.
