Team News: Brett Morris will line-up on the right wing while recruit Angus Crichton will start from the bench following off-season shoulder surgery. The Rabbitohs have a new look back five, with Greg Inglis shifting to the right centre spot, Braidon Burns at left centre and Dane Gagai shifting to the wing. Cameron Murray starts at lock with Sam Burgess on the right edge, with club debutants Ethan Lowe and Liam Knight named on the bench alongside NRL debutant Corey Allan.

Prediction: The NRL’s longest rivalry gets going again in this one, with the premiers looking to defend their title on their new home ground, the SCG. Angus Crichton will take on his former side for the first time, but the bigger headline will be the dawn of the Wayne Bennett era in Redfern. How he changes the Rabbitohs’ attack and defensive game will be huge, but the style won’t be perfected yet. Inglis vs. Mitchell will be a huge match up, but it’s the level headed Chooks that will narrowly get home in this one, with 77% of tipsters backing the reigning premiers to start 1-0. Roosters by 1.

    • The premiers are the Sydney Roosters the coach is Trent Robinson. The World Champions are the Sydney Roosters the coach is Trent Robinson. The Minor Premiers are the Sydney Roosters and again the coach is Trent Robinson. Keary and Tedesco are in the Australian Test teams spine because their club coach Trent Robinson help them achieve it.

      AHAHAHAHAH

    • Wet Field, couple of lucky tries for souffths from kicks and a bombed try from our captain. At the end of the day it was a first game warm up and it is only round 1. Comps are won in week 29. 💪🐔👍🤣😂😆😂🤣😆😂🤣😁

      • 3caps how am I a sore loser by discribing actual facts.???? My very fist post below was a congratulations. Talk about a winning sook having a dummy spit.

      • 3Caps the dummy spitter. You must be hanging around Walker to much at training while you eat your scollops. Now like a kid looking up to his hero your copping Walkers grubby dummy spitting antics. 3caps don’t forget to put checked salt on your patato scollops. It tastes so much better

  1. LOL@Woodenchicken.
The Roosters just got owned by the transit lounge bunnies. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    • Wests beat the Roosters in last seasons first game, The Chooks went onto win the comp, Wests went on to miss the eight. Early days and mother nature owned the Roosters tonight. Not the soufffths Transit Lounge.

Talking about Transit Lounges Kev. Parra has a leather Transit lounge, They have been attracting a heap of players lately mate. 9 PLAYERS signed up to Parra for 2019 just like soufffths. 💪🐔👉————😆😂🤣😁😆😂🤣😆😂🤣😁😆😂🤣

      • Believe what you like but the heavy slippery conditions played a massive role against the Roosters. Game stats prove it with a terrible completion rate of 60 .%. I mean Cordner when scoring a try was unable to even hold onto the ball when scoring.

  2. LOL…. 1 Nil to Penzzzzooooh. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. First flogged by Manly and now souths. Thats about the only back2back the rorters will get. The silence is deafening from Charcoal Charlie. Hahahahahahaha 🥄🥄🥄🥄🐔🐔🐔🐔🥄🥄🥄🥄🥄

  4. Congratulations to soufffffths, well done. The rain definitely helped the rabbits with our Chooks leading at halftime, but when the rain came, well that was to Souffffths advantage. Its a long season and the Roosters have no indentation to set the world on fire this early in the year. Sure a win would have been nice but not to be tonight. Again congratulations and we have not given up on the Ron Coote Cup. We must win by 11 to claim it in the last round.💪🐔👍

  5. You guys are all so harsh.
I’ll choose to focus on the positives (from an independent outsider supporter perspective), and in so doing say, Russ (Crower), mate, against all those odds, and from the “transit lounge”, the Bunnies managed to somehow defy the odds and pull off a last (79) minute turnaround to claim a “technical” victory, and 2, clearly undeservd points.

  6. I’m here, just decided to not say anything coming into the season, even though woodys and Russ comments were crap as usual, all the talk was great in the off season , i Just made the decision that it was time for the players to answer everything, but it helped to get through the no footy time.

Woodys take on Bennett was way wrong hey, and Campbell Graham, but his best was Radley, I like Radley , but he is one dimentional, only is a good tackler, Murray will take Crichton’s spot in origin he is the complete package. Wonder what his alter ego Russ has got to say, that will be a interesting read.

Woody the rain stopped Souths late in the first half and like the commentators said, what ever Bennet said at halftime obviously worked, Souths rattled Easts and forced those dropped balls, but impressed with you woody in congrats in Souths winning, didn’t think you had that in you.

Anyway only first round , but rather win than lose, also proved that Souths have depth in the forwards which i was not sure of, plus George B to come back.

    • Don’t forget it was Walker who we had chosen to keep and to let Keary go.

Butcher was allowed to leave as we chose to keep Cam Murray by signing him to a 5-year contract way back in 2015 as a then 16-year-old.
Butcher can’t even make the 17.

The other youngsters the Rorts signed from us but is now at the Tigers…
Paul Momirovski was also allowed to leave Souths as we put our time and money into Campbell Graham.

It seems the Rabbitohs kept the best and allowed the rest to go!

      • 3Caps you need to get your hand off it mate. Give it a rest otherwise you’ll go blind because your already silly.

Keary who won Souffs a comp left because Crowe put the entire blame on him for Souths decline out of the top eight. So he choose the Roosters lead us to a comp AND played for Australia . Something he would have never achieved at Soufffths

Butcher and Momoroski left Souffths so they could crack a NRL debut which they did at the Roosters but at Soufffths they could not because they are the transit lounge buying heaps of players and those two mentioned had to many players in front of them as Soufffths preferred to play other clubs rejects instead of their own.

        AHAHAHAHAH

    • He is an agro dummy spitter, he did the same in his last game of the season the preliminary final after Ferguson scored in the corner and Walker started pushing Ferguson wanting to create an all in brawl. Walker is a Grub

  7. Oh what a tragedy!! My beloved Eatthhhss brought back down to the sacred SCG turf with a great big thud, like someone cut the heads off some chickens for dinner…..even with the millions of brown paper bag payments to the refs and NRL, it seems we cant buy spirit, history and highly skilled athletes that South Sydney is so famous for, the Pride of the League showed us again how its done…..its hard to admit we are still hurting about SuperCoach Wayne Bennett taking the smart option and not becoming our coach years ago, and now he is at the greatest club in Rugby League.
Our highly overrated forwards were soft, our 5/8th is a sook and mitchell needs a dummy in his mouth…..here’s hoping we can turn it around next week

    • AHAHAHAHAH get over your hatred 3caps. Face reality. Soufffths did not win the premiership last season due to the might of the Roosters great team on a dry paddock, something that unfortunatley was not there on Friday night.
