After the mayhem caused by the Telegraph's online poll as to which Sydney side would be the most likely to be dumped should the NRL opt that way, we thought it would be fun to join in on the fun.

Over the past 48 hours, a selection of rugby league themed polls have been run on Twitter (@suthodan for those playing at home). Below are the results.

With rumours (just rumours at this stage) that Blake Ferguson's name has been linked with a return to the club that he left in hopes of 'winning a premiership', Sharks fans, as well as fans of other clubs, made it very clear they would not welcome him back to the club.

Despite being the NSW and Kangaroos winger, and a close mate of new recruit Josh Dugan, Sharks fans have not forgiven Ferguson for his ridiculous comments years prior to leaving the club. A potential Dugan/Ferguson right side would form the most lethal attack in the game, but even so, Sharks fans don't see, keen.

Many responses made light of the fact that Ferguson, chasing a premiership, missed out on one in 2016. Perhaps the 2017 Roosters will ease the blushes.

Perhaps the biggest shock of all the poll results came in this one, as almost 60% of the 500+ voters said they'd rather sign Nathan Cleary than Johnathan Thurston.

The timing of the poll, coming off Thurston's injury, may have helped sway those to vote for the much younger Cleary. Thurston is the best player in the game, and if you wanted to win a premiership next season, he'd be the first player you'd pick. That said, Cleary presents a tremendous upside, and at only 19 years of age, a side could be built around his incredible talents for the next 10 to 15 years.

Perhaps not that big a shock after all.

After 250+ votes, the large majority of those responding (almost 70%) agree that cheerleaders (I should have put this rather than cheer girls, a force of habit) still have a role on game day. For the

For the record, I've written in the past that I believe the cheer squads play a far more important role than they are given credit for, and I am pleased to see so many agree.

In terms of my twitter followers, my guess is the majority of voters are male, but many positive responses came from females, including former cheerleaders themselves.

For mine, the most relevant poll, in that I asked what would be the reaction should an NRL side be pulled from the competition, or located and transformed. Almost 80% of those who responded said they would not support another NRL side. I tend to agree. I certainly agree with the majority, that I would still watch the code, but not actively support a side. Think about it, how many games do you watch of league a year? How many of those involve your team? I watch a lot of league that doesn't involve my side.

The written responses were nearly unanimous, that if a side were removed, fans of that side would not support elsewhere, especially a new team created at that expense.

Rugby league will always be the greatest game of all, but I can honestly say I would never be able to watch it with the same passion, or certainly, the financial involvement, that I do right now, should my side be forced to relocate or no longer exist.

Almost 300 people responded to this, and I have to admit the results were far closer than I expected. The gap between an Origin and Test jumper is closing, and Mal Meninga can take a large majority of the credit for that.

Recent games, as well as off-field activities and decisions made, combine to ensure the green and gold jumper now means more than it has in many years. Origin football is still the pinnacle of the sport, and to those who responded at least, is seen as the ultimate prize, however, with a World Cup around the corner, this could be even closer next time.

Over half those who answered this poll said they did not have a soft spot for, or support a second NRL side. To be honest I can't imagine actively supporting another side other than my own, although it is easy to be caught up when with friends who support a different side for example.

There was an amazing gesture by a Sharks fan on Sunday, who wore a Sea Eagles scarf in honour of his late grandmother, accompanied by a sign that read 'family means more than footy'. Many responses indicated a similar theme in certain circumstances.

I can totally understand that. I can't understand actively supporting two sides though.

Last but certainly not least, I asked whether given the option, would you sign the world's best coach or world's best halfback? The responses here were varied, and at times heated.

With a few hours still to go, the results were neck and neck but in the end, most fans seem to think the halfback has a more important role than the coach.

Many pointed out that great halfbacks can make coaches look good, while great coaches can make halfbacks look good. Very true. Who would you rather, a Thurston/Johns or Bellamy/Bennett?

Let us know how you would have voted in the below. Stay tuned for post Origin polls.
