Dolphins second-rower Connelly Lemuelu has been charged by the NRL's match review committee over an ugly high shot during Thursday night's blowout loss to the Manly Sea Eagles in Redcliffe, but will avoid suspension.
The second half shot saw Lemuelu make direct shoulder to head contact on Manly fullback Tom Trbojevic.
He was penalised at the time, but not sent to the sin bin, while the Sea Eagles fullback, who had his best performance of the year to date in Kieran Foran's first game as head coach, was able to continue with the contest.
He was subsequently taken from the field about six minutes later for an unrelated head injury assessment which he went on to pass, although he never returned to the game as Manly put a score on the Dolphins.
Lemuelu, with it being a first offence on his rolling 12-month record, will face a $1000 fine with an early guilty plea for the Grade 1 careless high tackle charge, while he will risk $1500 if he fights at the judiciary.
Elsewhere in the game, Morgan Knowles was put on report for a dangerous tackle during the first half, and Tom Flegler for the same during the second half.
Neither player have been cited by the match review committee though.
All three players will be free to travel to Darwin when the Dolphins next play against the Penrith Panthers after a bye, with Lemuelu having until midday (AEDT) on Saturday to determine whether he will accept the early guilty plea or fight at the judiciary.
