Brisbane Broncos forward Josh McGuire is on the verge of joining the North Queensland Cowboys for the 2019 season.

McGuire has two-years remaining on his current deal and will require the Broncos to release him if he is to sign for the Cowboys.

The Broncos are reluctant to release McGuire but could use the salary cap space to re-sign youngsters Tevita Pangai Junior, David Fifita, Payne Haas and Joe Ofahengaue.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Cowboys have offered the Kangaroos forward a four to five year deal worth $3.2 million.

The Broncos have informed new coach Anthony Seibold about the situation.
