It is believed Warriors centre Gerard Beale has suffered severe patella tendon damage, keeping him out of action for an extended period of time and potentially putting his career in jeopardy.
The 29-year-old sustained the gruesome injury early in his side's meek 36-point loss to the Roosters on Sunday, and was immediately rushed to hospital.
Warriors coach Stephen Kearney said Beale would undergo surgery in Sydney.
"One part went north and the other part went south," Kearney told NRL.com.
"So it's not a nice injury for him.
"The recommendation is that he stays here to have surgery."
The Warriors, who face an uphill battle to play finals, will travel to PointsBet Stadium to face the Sharks on Saturday.
