The New Zealand Warriors have officially announced the appointment of Peter O'Sullivan as the club's recruiting manager.

While O'Sullivan has a rich history of discovering world class rugby league talent, he has also been serving an indefinite ban from the NRL since 2016, following an investigation into financial dealings with Eddie Hayson, a notorious punter and ex-brothel owner.

The NRL has subsequently lifted O'Sullivan's ban and they have re-registered him, allowing him to join the Warriors.

O'Sullivan has been credited with discovering players like Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Israel Folau, Greg Inglis and Billy Slater, while his latest find, Latrell Mitchell, adds another feather to his cap.

O'Sullivan spoke to an Australian newspaper in 2017, and confirmed he wanted to get back into the NRL landscape.

"It's hard when you invest so much into it and you can't do what you're good at," O'Sullivan said.

"I still love watching footy and trying to decipher teams. Anyone can pick the superstars when they're hitting 17.

"You don't have to have too much of an eye to be able to do that. To pick a kid who maybe if you didn't find them would have died on the vine, that's what makes it special."
