Parramatta Eels forward Peni Terepo has been stood down by the club for allegedly abusing airline staff in an alcohol-fuelled incident.

New Zealand media reports that Terepo was drunk when he boarded a flight and repeatedly ignored staff informing him he could not drink alcohol that wasn't purchased on board.

Terepo also acted inappropriately to a female flight attendant allegedly.

Parramatta has released a statement confirming Terepo has been stood down immediately and won't be available for their Round 1 match against the Penrith Panthers this week.

Read the full statement below.

The Parramatta Eels have been made aware of an alcohol related incident involving Peni Terepo from the weekend in New Zealand.

The Club has stood Peni down immediately, including this week’s Round 1 game against Penrith.

The Club will now work with the relevant authorities in New Zealand, the NRL Integrity Unit and the RLPA to investigate the incident thoroughly.

This process will then guide our next steps.

The Club will make no further comment until the investigation is completed.

  1. OK eelsalmighty I suppose you think your club has judged him wrongly and not given him his right of innocent until proven guilty.ah…ah…ah…..😵😆🤣😂😆🤣😂 Don’t tell me you agree with Parra standing him down❓❔❓❔

Is it a tactic from the eels to stand him down for a game before the NRL stand him down for 4 weeks.💪🐔👉——

  2. I think we’ve done the right thing in this case Woody.
This isn’t a he said / she said, or did he / didn’t he do it type case.
His actions were witnessed by a plane load of passengers, and deemed worthy of a police escort off said plane. I think that is sufficient to tick the “brought the game into disrepute” box, don’t you?

  3. If a couple more players there play up, Laurie will be saying its a club with a bad culture . Hold on, there has been a couple of others over the last few years. Edwards, Norman , Terepo ( other times ). They come to mind straight away. Laurie , where are you?
Oh, no axe to grind with Parramatta . So not a peep from Mr.Daley.

  4. Well we almost made it through the preseason without an issue and this goose stuffs up a week out from round one.
We only have two half decent forwards in Terepo and Paulo.
Paulo is likely to miss the Panthers game and now Terepo is gone.
That leaves us with a couple of plodders in Alvaro and Mannah and then just scraps after those two.
The Riff are going to pump us.

  5. Not a good sign for Parra at all. A week out from the start of the season and this guy opts to get on the booze and make a goose of himself.

  6. Almighty, the club has it 100% right! Parra should have held on to Alex Twal and Kelepi Tanginoa!!!!!

WoodDuck you are a drain on society!

  7. Two big defeats and Arthur is under pressure!!! Peni Terrepo is good for at least 3 dropped balls a game, not to mention the small minutes that he plays.

  8. 💪😁👍 Do you really think 1 game is a fair punishment with what has been going on with all the violence towards woman. This bloke mentally abused a female flight attendant and acted inappropriately.💪👴🎺

  9. FRIGID BEAVER you seem to know a lot about this player, what’s the story❓❔❓❔ are you a member of his fan club and that’s why you think Parra officials dealt fairly with this woman mental abuser. Ah Fridget Beaver🤣🤣😂😁

  10. “The Club has stood Peni down immediately, including this week’s Round 1 game against Penrith.”
“Including this week’s Round 1 game”, doesn’t necessarily mean 1 game only.
