Canterbury Bulldogs coach Dean Pay has confirmed the Dogs still have some recruiting left to do this season, as they look ahead to finalising their roster for the 2019 season.

2018 hasn't been kind to Canterbury on the field, as the Bulldogs have just four wins from 16 games, and occupy 15th position on the table.

The Dogs have already added Jack Cogger, Nick Meaney and Christian Crichton to their 2019 squad, but Pay is keen to extend that list before the season is out.

"For all our fans, members and supporters, we've got some young guys that are coming to the club next year, we've still got some recruiting to do, so it's exciting for us," Pay told bulldogs.com.au.

"We've still got Jacko (Josh Jackson), Dave Klemmer, Aiden Tolman, Adam Elliott, all these senior guys that we're going to build our club around, so the boys are really excited about what we can do to finish off this year, and looking forward to moving into a pre-season and next year.

Before they can plan for next season 2018 the 2018 campaign must come to an end first, as the Dogs host a rampant South Sydney on Saturday afternoon.

Despite being at opposite ends of the table, Pay understands it's just two teams in a battle for two points, and is hopeful his side can give the Rabbitohs a run for their money.

"We're just getting ready to put in a good performance [Saturday] and where that takes us, so obviously they're on top of the table, they want to get two points as much as we do, so it'll be a good contest tomorrow," Pay added.
