Tariq Sims will be unavailable for New South Wales for the State of Origin decider after the NRL judiciary upheld his grade two dangerous contact neck/head charge.

However, despite the guilty verdict, Sims's counsel James McLeod successfully argued the tackle be downgraded to grade one.

As a result, Sims will not miss any games for the Dragons given his selection for New South Wales on Monday night.

Sims was initially hit with the ban after making contact with Cowboy Michael Morgan, which was enough to see Morgan ruled out of the remainder of the game with a concussion.

Sims will be available for selection in the Dragons' upcoming Round 17 game against Canberra.

David Klemmer is set to replace Sims in the NSW squad.

  1. Very unfair for Simms.
That was just pressure footy. No malice.
Very unlucky for QLD. Here comes Klemmer.

  2. We are now officially playing netball. What’s the bet this garbage ruling is not carried out consistently.

  3. All Tariq needed to do was change his last name to Slater and he gets off scott free. What a joke decision.

  4. Sims being suspended for that tackle is a head shaker for sure. Playmakers taking the ball into the line should be expecting a whack from the opposition backrower if they are doing their job properly. Not high , not late ,just a good hard tackle. And Morgan was already falling when he hit him, after having just thrown a forward pass. And he gets 3 games for that! I don’t know who is on the judiciary tonight but they got that one very wrong. Not bad luck Sims , just a sh*t decision.

  5. Just being a queenslander would of got scott free, remember McGuire before origin only got fine for eye gouge and he is a serial offender that’s all, other player get suspended. When will the NRL have the balls to treat all player equal and not favour the whingeing queeslanders
