Ranking every NRL club's home jerseys

Perhaps nothing symbolises a sports team more, good or bad, than the jerseys they wear every week. From the colour schemes and patterns used, to even the sponsor splashed on the front, some jerseys can be aesthetically pleasing or complete eyesores. Gold Coast Titans Much like the club it represents, the Titans jumper does not stand out with it's bland dark blue and V-stripes at the top. However, what does stand out on this kit is the Neds sponsor logo. It looks like someone found a bumper sticker and slapped it on there. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs While this may rile up a few traditionalists out there, looking at the Bulldogs kit reminds us of staring at a brick wall. If this is due to a lack of sponsor or the traditional white kit with blue V-stripes is for you to decide. Canberra Raiders Green, green and more green. Hard to know if this is a jersey for a NRL team or a Kermit the Frog supporters group. The massive Huawei logo also does little for the eyes. North Queensland Cowboys Looking at the jersey, nothing really screams out 'Cowboys'. The blue and white colour scheme isn't bad but the barcode-like black stripes in the middle leave little to the imagination. Penrith Panthers The all-black motif definitely suits the Panthers vibe, but the red, yellow and green stripes catch the eye and seem to be an odd choice in an otherwise striking kit. Newcastle Knights Newcastle's traditional red and blue has made for great jumpers in the past such as the classic 2001 kit. But the 2020 edition gets this mediocre ranking mainly due to the massive green NIB sponsor logo. It draws attention directly to it and makes you focus on something mundane like health insurance when you just want to watch the footy. Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Not much to say with this jersey. A solid maroon and white combo that would please the traditionalists out there. Cronulla Sharks The light blue that dominates this jersey definitely catches the eye on first glance, but the white dilutes that a little bit. Overall a solid kit. New Zealand Warriors One of the more colourful jerseys in the NRL, the combination of the red, green and blue stands out while retaining the traditional patterns of Warriors jerseys of old. St George Illawarra Dragons More of the same for St George, sticking with their classic white with red V-stripe they have worn for decades. As the saying goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Wests Tigers Another team who haven't drastically changed an already well-liked design. The orange and black design calls back to the club's merged history and the choice to change the orange top half to a v-stripe in 2018 remains a smart choice. Melbourne Storm Some people may tell you that purple doesn't suit an NRL team. Well, anyone who has seen a Melbourne Storm jersey will definitely not agree, with the Storm home kit producing a striking mix of purple and the traditional Victorian navy blue. Sydney Roosters Another traditional kit here. What really sets this one apart is the Steggles sponsor logo. Has there ever been a more perfect sponsor match than a team called the Roosters and a chicken company? South Sydney Rabbitohs Perhaps the most iconic jersey on this list, the 2020 home kit for the Rabbitohs continues their traditional design but with a red stripe on the shoulders. Which i assume was added using the Homer Simpson logic that "it looks pretty sharp" Brisbane Broncos This jersey just screams Queensland with its maroon and gold. The giant Kia logo has been subtly added and doesn't take away how pleasing this kit is on the eye Paramatta Eels With the Eels looking to reclaim the glory days of the 1980's, their jersey continues to be inspired by their classic kits from that era. The yellow and blue with the stripes is eye-catching while the sponsor logo placement is aesthetically pleasing and doesn't distract from the rest of the kit. Just a great colour scheme and nice jersey and our pick of the bunch.
