The NRL are set to disprove the Raiders proposed six-week ban to fullback Jack Wighton for pleading guilty to five charges of assault in the ACT Magistrates Court last week.

Having viewed the CCTV footage of the February incident, NRL boss Todd Greenberg did not think the Raiders' penallty was sufficient.

"I notice Canberra have proposed a six-week ban. We've viewed the footage and in our view it will warrant a stronger action than that, and that will be a discussion we will have directly with the Canberra club over the next couple of days," Greenberg told The Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday.

A document summarising the footage viewed by police in court last Friday details that Wighton left a Civic nightclub at approximately 2:45am and headbutted and punched a man who was leaning on a window.

The document states that at 2:55, a man approaches Wighton and shakes his hand, only for the star Raider to shove and punch the victim's face.

10 minutes later, Wighton reportedly urinates on the road before assaulting three men, headbutting and punching them in the face.

The Canberra board met last week and decided on six-week penalty to be approved by the NRL integrity unit, but now it seems unlikely that we will see Wighton again this season.

"We made our feelings pretty clear to Canberra. They made a decision. Ultimately the power rests with us to come over the top if we don't think the sanction is high enough," Greenberg said.

"I'm not foreshadowing [a ban] today. What I am foreshadowing is that there will be a discussion had with Canberra.

"We have always maintained that players at clubs are their employees and they set culture within their clubs.

"To be frank Canberra have done a very good job of that over a long period of time, making hard decisions around players.

"On this occasion we will have a discussion with the club."

Wighton will face sentencing for his charges on November 14.
