Who should your NRL club dress up as for Halloween?

Halloween may not be massive in Australia, yet every year we see a host of people dressed in costumes, whether it be of a famous celebrity or a favourite character. With Halloween just days away, let’s have a look at who your club should dress up as for the occasion. While she’s been outshone by her rivals from time to time, she stands tall as one of the media’s most dependable characters. Not too mention a host of third-party deals will keep her above the pack for years to come. Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Kim Kardashian Kim Kardashian, like the Bulldogs, has really dropped off the radar in 2017. On the surface, thanks to some new, nice looking assets, both look just as good as ever on the outside. But at the end of the day, next year they’re still going to be just as bland and boring as they’ve been for quite some time. Canberra Raiders Adam Sandler Sandler and Canberra struggle for consistency at the best of times. One week, the Raiders put in a ‘Punch Drunk Love’ performance, and the next week they’re ‘Jack and Jill’. Sandler has just made an impressive comeback in his latest film, so the ball is in Canberra’s court. Cronulla Sharks Robert Downey Jnr. They spent a lot of time in the cellar, and the use of some illicit substances didn’t help the case of either of them, but both have surged to the top in recent times, reminding the world why they are who they are. Unfortunately, Cronulla’s premiership window seems to be closing at the same time Downey Jnr’s days of being Iron Man wind up. It’s back to uncertainty after that. Gold Coast Titans Oasis They have the potential to be absolute world-beaters, but a troublesome front man simply spells too much trouble. If new coach Garth Brennan can rein in Jarryd Hayne like Oasis vocalist Liam Gallagher needed to be, then success isn’t too far off. Unfortunately, Brennan will have to climb over a Wonderwall if he is to control a superstar like Hayne. Manly Sea Eagles Donald Trump Wildly successful and widely hated. That could easily describe either of these examples, but with the way Daly Cherry-Evans’ hair is looking these days, it appears the similarities between the two are growing by the day. And you don’t need to build a wall around Brookvale to stop Manly fans from leaving the Northern Beaches. Melbourne Storm Pennywise the Dancing Clown You could see both ‘IT’ and the Melbourne Storm triumphing in 2017 from a mile away. Both equipped with the ability to change their shape depending on their prey, these scary prospects will be featured in bad dreams for a long time. Though I think most people would prefer to face the clown than a spray from Craig Bellamy. New Zealand Warriors The NRL Footy Show cast While they’re equipped with enough strike power to entertain their fans, the consistency between these is shocking. Alongside the consistency is the lack of quality recruitment, leaving both parties in shambles. Unlike the Footy Show cast, the Warriors still have time to right their wrongs. Newcastle Knights Phillip J. Fry Just likely Newcastle, the famous Futurama character’s luck is forever down in the dumps. Whether it be accidentally freezing yourself or losing your sole Origin rep to South Sydney, both these schmucks must’ve walked under their fair share of ladders to cop so much poor fortune. Newcastle is going to need Fry’s seven-leaf clover if they are to turn the ship around in 2018. North Queensland Cowboys Leicester City’s 2015/16 team Everybody loves an underdog story. Whether it be Leicester City claiming their maiden title midway through last year, or the Cowboys charge to the NRL Grand Final from the 8th spot, the less-favoured opponents are always the sporting world’s best stories. Too bad for North Queensland couldn’t emulate Leicester City completely and finish the job. Parramatta Eels Harrison Ford Some of the biggest stars of the 1980’s, Ford and Parramatta have both had somewhat dry stretches since the glory days over 30 years ago. Though thanks to the rebooting of some of that 80’s magic, it appears success is back on the cards for these former world-beaters. Hopefully, Parramatta travels better than Han Solo in the years to come. Penrith Panthers Spider-Man The newest Spider-Man film shocked many with just how good it was, though at such a young age, the maturity and knowledge on how to handle crucial situations isn’t quite there yet. But when he does fully develop, watch out, he’ll be hard to stop. And Spider-Man follows a plan as closely as Gus Gould followed his five-year plan. Or was it ten? South Sydney Rabbitohs The Simpsons They were a massive hit a few decades ago, but as time wore on, they simply lost their touch. A resurgence in the early 2010’s had them buzzing once more, though another drop leaves both of them wondering where to from here. Despite the ups and downs, both stand as the most successful team or show compared to competitors. St George Illawarra Dragons James Harden Physical and dominant, but the Dragons and Harden have something much more unpleasant in common. Both have a reputation of choking in pressure situations. Whether it be beating a team low on the ladder to get into the finals, or missing a match winner in a Finals Series, the choke is real. With Ben Hunt joining the side, Red V fans can only hope he doesn’t join the culture of dropping the ball in high-pressure games… Sydney Roosters The Three Amigos There’s no way the Three Amigos could fail with such a highly talented cast. It may have taken time to assemble such big stars, but the result is a movie remembered still decades later. The Roosters may as well be the fourth amigo, with that salary sombrero above them. Wests Tigers Ms Frizzle Ms Frizzle is the teacher that organizes and runs the Magic School Bus, and they’ll certainly need a bit of magic at Leichardt to make sure Ivan Cleary and his squad stay ‘on the bus’ in 2018. Fingers crossed Ms Frizzle is prepared for a breakdown sometime next year.
